A movie where a lot goes wrong...
I was invited to come and make a show in Amman, Jordan. The man who invited me had a ceramic factory in Amman and he promised a lot. This was 1994.
I wanted to go: to face my insecurity, to be away from my own -safe- studio, and to make work for an exhibition in the Middle East. It sounded too good to be true.
It was.
Instead of Amman, I found myself in the mountains near Amman, in increasing isolation, up to a point where I nearly lost my mind...

I made very emotional works, due to the situation.
As it turned out, I was lied to and no exhibition was planned. Not wanting to leave my works, I end up destroying all. Lucky I filmed everything as a diary, including the nasty end.
I had to flee the country in order not to end up in prison. A very scary experience that had a huge impact on me as a person and as an artist.

A long movie with highlights such as the Dead Sea, Jerash, the Red Sea and Petra. Places where I almost was the only Westerner walking around. Petra still is one of the best places I have ever been. It felt as if walking through my art, a deja vu almost.
I hope you will sit back and let the slow rollercoaster roll that made such an impact on me.
