video-diary Symposium 'Down to Earth', Kecskemet 2013 HD

quite long - includes impressions of Kecskemët and Budapest, the worst classical concert I ever witnessed.
The main 'dish', of course is the process and the work I ended up with.

TIC The Icecream Cup

A design for an icecream-cup.
One sliding piece of porcelain, displaying the icecream in a most beautiful way.

Originally a design for Kristoff, Poland, who asked for a novel idea.
This is what I send and they never even responded...

Short animation showing the icecream cup in a playful way.

Fucking Up the Financial System (FUFS)

Collaboration between 2 artists with the help of a third:
Jeroen Bechtold made the porcelain pigs riding up a feeble gold construction.

Bram Langmans made a movie and together with Pieter Boeykens they made the mesmorising soundtrack that completes this comment on limitless greed, anti-social behaviour and egoism that makes our economy weak and still... makes the world go round.

Film: Bram Langmans. Music: Bram Langmans & Pieter Boeykens

32 Years Shuffled HD

Pictures of works I made during the 32 years I have been working so far. Great to make the little movie, to see all you've done. 'One' seems to forget as 'one' is always busy with the next step.
many thanks to Kevin MacLeod ( for the use of his music "Movement Proposition & The Complex"

Augmented Abstraction HD

Movie made during "Porcelain Another Way, 2012". Symposium in Walbrzych, Poland.

I put 2 huge rolls of the most beautiful, pristine material in a cement-mixer...

Tried to achieve total abstraction: work made by me, but with as little interference as possible.

15 claims - the Art of Climate Change (2009)

The '15 Claims' spell out the madness of humankind. Not in words, but in an image.
Images can be so much stronger than words, but you need to open up to see, hear, feel.
The hypnotic movie is accompanied by the mesmerizing sound of MOBY who kindly donated his music for this project.

"Fanfare": Ceramic Millennium'99

Tiny movie/animation that played during the big conference in Amsterdam 1999.
It describes history and future with a great little soundtrack by Tako Postma.

Movie was made bij Jeroen Bechtold, who also did the animation of the flying cups+saucers. Mind you: this was the early days of animation, and it all looks a bit stiff, but in 1999 everybody was truely amazed :-)

flags at conference hall CM'99

Ceramic Millennium'99 - a huge happening in Amsterdam.
I was asked to do the logo for the conference. The organisation liked the design so much, they decided to produce flags that waved at the entrance.
Needless to say: I was pleased.

Great to actually walk under yourown virtual thoughts...
This tiny video was taken from television, as I had no footage of it myself!

Yixing teapots designed by Jeroen Bechtold

1996 Jeroen Bechtold was one of the invited artists who were able to work with the famous Yixing clay.

Jeroen however, during this period, had his designs executed by 4 Yixing-masters simultaniously.

They made his virtual teapots in their 17th Century techniques...

This movie shows the process and all of Jeroen's teapots for Yixing.

yixing symposium 1996 - Western Potters in China

It was a historic event. 23 Western potters were invited to come to Yixing to work together with the Chinese MasterMakers of teapots. This was the first time ever that Westerners were even allowed to touch the clay!
I was one of the lucky artists that were invited and this movie is a personal registration of the event and focusses of course on my work.
At the end of this video you see a compilation of the designs I did.

Jordan 1994

A movie where a lot goes wrong...
I was invited to come and make a show in Amman, Jordan. The man who invited me had a ceramic factory in Amman and he promised a lot. This was 1994.
I wanted to go: to face my insecurity, to be away from my own -safe- studio, and to make work for an exhibition in the Middle East. It sounded too good to be true.
It was.

I hope you will sit back and let the slow rollercoaster roll that made such an impact on me.
